It is my great pleasure to introduce myself as the headteacher of our wonderful small rural school in North Devon. Our school is a place where ambitious progress, learning to learn, respectful consideration and the safety and wellbeing of every child are at the heart of everything we do.

At our school, we believe in setting high aspirations for all our children, encouraging them to strive for excellence in every aspect of their education. We are committed to fostering a love for learning, where pupils are not just absorbing information but are actively engaged in the process of learning to learn. This approach helps them develop critical thinking skills and a lifelong passion for knowledge.

Equally, we are deeply committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children. Creating a safe, secure, and supportive environment is fundamental to our work, and we ensure that all pupils feel protected, listened to, and cared for. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and it underpins all aspects of school life.

Respectful consideration is a cornerstone of our school community. We teach our children the importance of empathy, kindness, and respect for others, helping to create a nurturing environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to thrive.
