Behaviour at Marwood
Reinforcing positive behaviour
Our behaviour management strategies are underpinned by our 'SMART' rules which were devised by the children at Marwood School. These include the following:
In addition, the children thought of some really important rules they need to follow at lunch time in the hall and these are known as the 'TABLE' rules:
If the children consistently follow these rules, they may receive a special golden ticket which goes into a prize draw in the achievement assembly each Friday.
The children can also earn the 'Star of the Week' award on Friday if they consistently follow the school rules or uphold the school values of 'learning to learn', 'ambitious progress' and 'respectful consideration'.
Encouraging children to make the right choices
At Marwood School, we believe that every child deserves a calm, respectful and supportive learning environment. Our behaviour management approach - Reminder, Warning, Consequence - is designed to guide children in making positive choices while maintaining fairness and consistency.
- Reminder: A gentle prompt to help children reflect on their behaviour and make a better choice. This encourages self-regulation and keeps learning on track.
- Warning: A clear signal that behaviour needs to change. It gives children time to adjust before further action is taken.
- Consequence: A proportionate and respectful response if behaviour does not improve. This helps children understand the impact of their actions and learn from the experience.
This approach supports all learners by promoting responsibility, empathy, and a sense of belonging. We work closely with families to ensure every child feels understood, valued, and supported.
